Camera Obscura

“There is something of the tardis about this camera obscura. Looking like a little round tent from the outside with a curious dome on the top, you walk in to a darkened room and find you can see for miles.”

Our Bluebell Wood YurtWhen you first walk into the yurt through a small porch, it takes a minute or two for your eyes to get accustomed to the darkness. In front of you is a luminous disc of light, depicting an outdoor scene that you have just left behind. It is familiar but also a little strange, otherworldly even. The clouds scudding across the table before you, or a passerby outside become players and scenery in a film or play you catch a small glimpse of.

In this image saturated world it is remarkable that the camera obscura still has an almost magical appeal for all ages. With remote control, the lens can be turned 360 degrees and tilted up or down to get an amazing view of the world outside.

Our camera obscura yurt is available for photography workshops or to hire as an attraction on its own at festivals and other events.
